Ok, I have been to the Luminous Landscape, and quite frankly the photoshop workflow, while very good im sure, is just a bit over my head. I can follow instructions, but he leaves out some "where to find" stuff. Is there a resourse somewhere that is really good at explaining workflow for processing high quality photo work in photoshop?

I need to know the best sharpening techniques, techniques for correcting color that I can understand, etc.

I am reasonably intellegent, I am a partner in one of the biggest architectural firms in Florida, but I just cant follow the Luminous Landscape explanation. :(

By the way, I will gladly pay lots of money for an understandable book.

I am currently using two Books:
1. Photoshop CS for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby
2. Photoshop CS Classroom in a Book by Adobe.
They are both excellent. There is also a training CD included in the CS jewel case.

Try "The Adobe Photoshop CS Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kirby. I have the same book for Photoshop 7 and it's brilliant.

i agree completely. I have the CS version, and it made things very simple to understand.

I have to agree on these two books as the best available for learning the features, functions and where to find them within Photoshop's many menus.

I have probably purchased ten Photoshop books, but the two that stay close to my work space, or next to my easy chair at all times are:
The Photoshop Cs Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby
and
Photoshop CS Classroom in a Book, by Adobe.

Both are invaluable tools.

BTW, Scott Kelby also writes a book for us Photoshop Elements users called "The Photoshop Elements book for Digital Photographers". It is very good at directing the user through steps needed to perform various tasks with PS-E.

Hi, books are great and I have a few but in the UK we have a magazine "DIDITAL PHOTO" that comes with CD-Rom tutorials and they are very good.

One of the presenters has some cd-roms on PS7, Barry Thomas and I find him very easy to follow. His E-Mail respons.ability@virgin.net
Hope this helps.

Jay Arraich has a great site with Photoshop tutorials.

Granted, it references PS7, but many of the same tools and techniques apply to CS.

How are the Kelby books? I had ordered one, and it took them forever to ship it so I cancelled it.. Photoshop 7 one...

I was looking at some of the PS CS books and ran across this one:

Photoshop CS Killer Tips
by Scott Kelby (Author), Felix Nelson (Author)

But there's no reviews I found on this one. Anyone look at this book yet?

I am currently reading Scott Kelby's book on PS CS For Digital Photographers. It gives step by step instructions with alot of pictures on how to do things. It's a fairly easy read, very practical. He doesn't make his books all inclusive and says that straight out in his intro. You will need another reference book such as the one I mentioned to compliment Kelby's work.

My 2 cents... The Kelby books are awesome. I also have the Photoshop Book for digital photographers as well his Photoshop 7 Down and Dirty. These books are great for 'learning by doing'.

The more complex sets will give neophyte users pause but if your even a bit seasoned in PS then they will open your eyes.

Another great reference at the videos from Software Cinema. Julianne Kost has a series for Intro to new features in PS CS as well as advanced tips. I have three complete sets from them and they are great how to references. You can see the streaming examples at:

I also will agree on the suggestions made. I personally find video the easiest to follow when it comes to tutorials. Russel Brown has some great tut's. http://www.russellbrown.com/
There is also http://www.desktopimages.com/PS6.shtml which I found are fantastic tutorials that take you step by step visually in Photoshop.
Here is her site for the books http://www.desktopimages.com/PS6.shtml

I am new to digital photography and I just got Photoshop CS after upgrading from Elements. It is obvious I need some good books! The program is awesome but it sure has a lot of buttons, levels and guages, so to speak. I've decided that learning this is going to take some time. I'm going to get the Kelby book and see what happens.
