Greetings all. Just recently pulled the trigger on an XTi (Ebay package with every cheap option/lens imagineable). This was taken with el-cheapo Tamron 28-80 (3.5-5.6). I've since ordered the nifty 50, and Sigma 18-200 (I know, I know), and am not done by any means. I love to take pics... but have next to no technical knowledge. Plan on changing that quickly, and am overloaded by this site. Thanks for all the great info.
Found this tree on the property of the Vanderbilt mansion on Newport, RI. Leaving at dusk, just happened to catch my eye. Anyways, I didn't think much of it, but grabbed just the one shot. Wish I would have spent a bit more time with it. I'm torn between the color and sepia. Thoughts?

Neat tree.

regarding your equiptment, remember a good photographer can make great images with nearly any equip. dont get too hung up on the tools at first. Just concentrate at pounding nails, and learn it before you buy a $80 hammer. The equip you have is very capable.

The shots are good, but i think that you will be best served doing a high contrast black and white on this shot. I think out of these 2, the sepia is better. the color one has an odd look to me

I usually like the color, but in this case the sepia gets my vote.
