Hi,
I have a Canon 350D and I've just bought a Metz 60 ct 4.
I'm looking for a hot shoe adapter to use with the flash, but I'm not sure what to buy. Are there different sorts of adapeters? Do some offer more functionality than others?
Thanks,
Michelle

Michelle,
welcome to the forum!
Maybe you can find some information here: http://www.metz.de/en/photo_electronics/digital.140.html
As to my knowledge, Metz is the only manufacturer of hot-shoes to mount it to a camera.
However, there *may* be a problem ... I have not found the 60 CT4 in the list of 'digital compatible' flashes.
You will have to check whether it is designed to work in automatic mode on a digital canon camera or not (then it only works in full manual mode, like my ancient MZ40).
Background ... on digital Canon cameras, you can only use Canons 'EX' flash series (NOT EZ or earlier) or flashes from third-party manufacturers that are 100% compatible to the EX protocol (e.g. Metz MZ 58 ). Only such a flash with the fitting adapter will offer you automatic flash control E-TTL on your camera, with all others you have to manually set all parameters (which can be a pain in the neck).
So if your CT60 is not one of those compatible units, you might see if you can return it or exchange it for one of the compatible units (unless you are a seasoned pro who is used to setting flash manually)
You might also try to read this: ** IMPORTANT LINKS: EOS Flash ** (READ FIRST) (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=138907)

Thanks Andy, bought the Metz of eBay on a recommendation, so will have to make the most of it - no returns there :)
Not a pro by any means, but hoping to use the flash for some portrait photography.

With the 350, you use the Metz 3102 M3 module for Canon, for compatibility with the 350. The 3102 M3 is mounted onto the Metz 3000C cable to adapt it to connect with the 350 hot shoe. (The 3102 and 3120 M2 modules are not for use with the 350; you need the 2102 M3, which Metz will convert for you if you have an earlier module.)
I have a 20D, a 45CT4 flash, and use it with 3000C and 3102 M3 module very successfully in Auto mode. The 45CT and 60CT cannot be used in ETTL mode because it (and the 60CT) cannot emit the preflash needed for ETTL operation. You will have in-viewfinder flash ready light, auto shutter synch speed but no FEC control.
