I am looking for some advice and good critique...nobody is interested :S

Without seeing the title the photo could be anything up to "waiting for the guys to build the new fooball field". I'm not putting the photo down - it's always good to see someone attempts to interpret current world situation with photos. It is important. But in this sort of message needs you to go closer, say it all with the photo only (and not words) and show the context of the situation. This is why most PJ's go as close as they can with something like 17-35 lens. Of course to go closer in a situation like this is hard mentally, but if are with the people and honor their moment they will surely accept you there.
Those are my initial thoughs.

Seems to be some sort of purple in the sand close to the middle of the exposure. Is that on your sensor or in the scene? cant tell.

You've cut the sky that's OK but why the foots???

I cut off the feet in order to emphasize the head (or rather the eyes of the foreground figure we can't see). I realize that normally you don't want to "amputate" a foreground figure but in this case the subject is the visual engagement of the two figures, not a full bodied portrait.
