Hi all,

I'm going to be attending the NAIAS in Detroit next week and was hoping to get some good pictures with my new Rebel XTI. I was wondering if any of you have experience with shooting at an indoor venue with bright lights. Can anyone offer any tips so that the cars come out clear? I've never tried it out with a DSLR, but with my old point and shoot, the cars came out blurry quite often.

You will need to bump the ISO to 1600. There should be plenty of ambient light at the show to go flash-less. Bring the fastest wide angle lens that you have. Below are several out-of-the-camera images that I captured using a handheld 5D, 24-105L zoom, ISO between 800-1600, a few with fill-flash. Event was SEMA (Nov '06) and LA Auto Show (Dec '06).

bring a mono pod if possible?

I always took a tripod into Cobo hall, but haven't been there in 2 years. With that, the kit lens works just fine, & the 18mm helps a lot.

If I remember correctly, ISO 800. I used a 17-40 F4L for these which is quite slow.

I also like bringing a mini tripod aswell for an interesting angle and sharp images.
