come june several motorcycle friends and i will be driving to the Tenn/NC border to ride US129 or better known as the tail of the dragon at deals gap. The route is set in a semi heavily wooded area with alot of shadows and normally cloudy skys. Right now i'm using just the regular lense that comes with the 20D, but would like to know if there's something better out there for these types of shots? I'll be set up along the side of the road (hopefully not getting run over!).

I shoot some at the dragon, 70-200 f2.8 L is great.. actually if ya want cheaper the Canon 75-300 f4-5.6 works well too...
You guys should check out our riding area, Shady Valley, US 421...
sharper curves than the gap....

just reading through canon's website, would the EF 180mm F/3.5L Macro USM work? I enjoy macro photography, and the description of the lense says that it can double as a telephoto.
Seeing as i'm new to all this, i'm going to go out on a limb here... the F/3.5 part i think i've picked up as signifying how fast the lense is. As in, the lower aperture number means you can run faster shutter speeds. would this lense be fast enough for motorcycle going 50ish mph?

Look at www.killboy.com (http://www.killboy.com) for tips on shooting the Tail of the Dragon. He's up there all the time.

This pic was taken with my old 300D DREBEL and the $135 75-300 Canon f4-5.6 lens..
So not pro gear but its not bad for bikes at the track or the gap or similar places..
