I'm thinking of getting it for a laugh! Would I blow my 400D up if I tried to use it?

link doesn't load
while it probably won't blow your 400D up, if the trigger voltage is above 6V (some say its 250V), it may damage the shutter mechanism permanently. You'd be best to stick with modern flashes made by Canon or third party manufacturers with known low-trigger voltages.

I can't see the link but I wouldn't want to risk it on my camera.

Hmm, strange that you can't see the link... I've got a rebate coming back hopefully in the next few days and I'm getting a 580EX with that money, so I'll hold out for that :)

The link works for me.
In one of the stickies is a link to this website (http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html) that lists the trigger voltages of a lot of old flash units. The 133A is around 6 volts, similar to my 177A. I wouldn't hesitate to use it on a current model DSLR. I might hesitate to use it on a camera older than the 20D.
The 133A has only slightly more power than the built-in flash. It appears to have a GN around 50 ft., a single automatic setting of f/2 at ISO 100 and no manul mode. At the very least, it could be used to trigger optical slaves.

If you look closely at the photos in the link, you will note that the lens on the emitter is spider-webbed and the back panel is seriously damaged as if it had been exposed to solvents. I wonder if that's representative of the lot?
