I had a friend that design me a logo. What are your thoughts?

Pretty cool, I'm loving the C made from an aperture ;)

I think the only thing I'd change would be maybe add some more of the yellow as an accent on the business cards. Maybe just a yellow seperation line or something to add a little touch of colour.

The logo looks pretty decent on a business card. It wouldn't work so well as a watermark but fine for a very corporate or industrial looking card. As for a business card, it doesn't really scream photography...

I don't think you need the word photography after each type you're advertising, and I'm assuming "pornography" is a joke. ;)

Thanx for the input! And yes he was being a smart guy with the "pornography" part.

For the business card part he did that really quick and I am going to be wanting to add an image to it.

What constitutes a good watermark?

Anyone else have input?

Take top left logo....make it transparent....use it in top left of card over one of your actual pics for full background.....I think you'd be onto something?

Yeah it'd be interesting to see on top of one of your images with dropped opacity, so that it's half transparent. I made my logo into a brush in PSCS2 and I just increase the opacity to make it fade into the picture.

Really like the first one - much more distinctive than the others.
Not sure it stands out as a photographers logo - then again, neither does mine (see first attached), but my business cards and letter heads do have sample images on them (see second attachment).
Like the idea you've had - hope people come to recognise it and associate it with you and your work. Good luck.

This is a particularly good corporate design. The colors chosen go good together. I need to learn to do this sort of thing since i'm majoring in graphic design for college next year. If you were to use that as a watermark, i would remove the background and just use the letters with a much lowered opacity.

Thanx for the input. When I first saw it I wasn't very excited about it, but it is starting to grow on me! I know that it doesn't seem like a "typical" photographers logo, but I hope its that uniquness that gets people.

I am waiting to get the PSD files from my friend (who is a Marketing major) so I can test out the watermark suggestions. Basically I told him to design something around my website color scheme. I am going for a more corporate look website so I think it will fit in quite nicely.

I will post some results with the watermarks.

Cheers
Jonathan

looks great, for a watermark perhaps just the outline of the letters without any fill and make it smaller OR just have your website address.

That is something I will have to figure out how to do. I am on a huge Photoshop learning curve!! :)
