He does look a bit ruffled from salty weeds etc. Nice catch :)

How did you do the noise reduction? It's very effective.

Hi Mark,

I use Neat Image Home Edition. For this picture, I opened the image up in Neat Image, let the software auto-profile the image and - after previewing the result at "default" settings and liking the result - saved.

Less than a minute from start to finish.

The freeware version of Neat Image is more or less just as capable, but I'm happy with the extras you get by paying for the software.

I often run my pictures through Neat Image even if noise isn't an issue, because it does a very good job of blurring the background, giving the subject more separation from the background - a software DOF adjustment.

Thanks for that i have tried to do this noise thing myself but i seem to the ruin the image so i dont bother much now.

Yes Keith it does a good job, i have the NR my self but i dont get very good results with it at the moment.The image looks very different to the one you got, must be me not doing it right.
