Pardon my exuberance but I just had one of my most gratifying mornings yet. I was on my way to record some gps cordinates of a caracaras nest for a researcher from the U.of Va. Saw this eagles nest off in the distance and hiked over to it. They were none too happy with my presence but put on a show like I have never seen. Shot close to 300 frames and I honestly don't know where to start processing so I just grabbed a couple of the first ones.

Uncropped, 500mm f4 w 1.4x tcon handheld.

Seriously; I'm bitter!

I drove for 2 hours to a reported nest location; and all I got with my 20D + 100-400 were "Qtip on a twig" pictues as my friends say.

I'm really happy at least SOMEONE can snap awesome pictures of these beautiful birds. Nice work; post a pic of this thing framed and hung in a spot of honor in your house when you finish with it.

It's all been said - you must be very happy. :) That first one is of the same standard as the best shots at the Shell Wildlife Photography Awards exhibition that I saw recently in London. Please do post more. And could I suggest that you submit it for the POTN Book?

In case you haven't noticed one of the earlier posters has elevated you to the "You have got to see this!" thread here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=214697). Congratulations!

Incredible first shot Blue, the angle of the Eagle is perfect, pity about the branch hiding the wing a littlethough. The second shot is an excellent pose of the bird with it's mouth wide open, well done.

Wow ! Never did I expect such positive support for these. Thanks.

I actually wasn't even going to post #1 because I have several others that I liked better. It was the first time ever I told my wife to sit in front of the monitor and " pick one you like and I will edit it ". Thanks again.

Both images have amazing impact....great action, light and details in bots shots. For shear dramatic effect I have to go with the first but the second shot is awesome as well. Dynamite set here Blue.
