guys, thanks for the nice words. snedigity, i use a canon 20d with the sigma 10-20 wide angle, all stuffed inside a del mar housing projects camera housing
http://www.custom-surf-wake-photography-underwater-splash-camera-housings.com/new/index.php. i swim out using viper swim fins weraing a full suit 4/3 mm, hood, helmet (as seen in my avatar), booties and gloves. the water is currently about 57-58 degrees in so cal. some guys still charge without even booties, but it gets pretty cold sitting neck deep the whole time.

I love the kiting shots. I have started shooting kite surfing but I am limited to the shoreline. See my link under the "new years eve surfing" thread.
Your shots a so intimate, being in the water right there with the riders. How do you do that? Do you get in their way to photograph them or do they come to you?
