If I take a photo with my S3 and press the memo button while the photo is still displayed I can record a voice memo. When I am finished recording the memo I press the set button to stop the recording and then exit the memo recording mode. The memo controls go from the screen but I have the photo still displayed and it does not go away. The only way I've found to get out of this is to switch to playback mode and back to record mode or power off the camera.
Am I doing something wrong? Is this a bug in the S3 firmware? Does anyone else's S3 do this also?

my camera does the same thing kind of, when i go in and out of the menu, while its in shoot mode?
try maybe pressing down slightly on your shoot button, like you're about to take a pic then let go, maybe it'll go back to normal.
i may totally not understand what you're saying but it may help
i have a powershot btw. not teh same camera.

I've tried the shutter and the zoom when in this 'condition' and they do nothing. It is like the camera has temporarily jumped into playback mode to allow recording the voice memo but then does not know what state it is in when you leave memo mode and switching to playback and back to record restores the camera back to normal. I cannot believe the QA guys in Canon would not have spotted a problem like this when checking the firmware, that is why I post here.:)

Yes it just alternates between a full screen view and an information view with histogram etc. The only other 'button' that cancels this is to change the shooting mode from P to Tv or other setting.:(
