I'd like to hear from people using or considering using EE:
WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE COMMENTING AVAILABLE PER PHOTO?
I was NOT thinking system exactly like photo.net uses, but system like:
'comment/view comments' buttons next each photo. This feature could be turned off in the editor (for EACH photo separately if needed - is it?)
Some details how I would design this system now:
Comment:
- opens something like exhibition feedback form and you would NOT need to register or anything to participate.
- editor would have an option to delete spam comments.
- could include a rating choice (1-5?) Is this needed?
- rating would not be possible without entering text to comment area. This would ensure that people actually think about reasons for the rating. Also this would tie comments and ratings, and if the comment is spam, deleting it would erase rating, too.
View comments:
- opens a photo comment browser (like exhibition feedback browser, but with current photo thumbnail link and some other info about the photo).
- select exhibition menu.
- here you can select any another photo from selected exhibition, which has got feedback, from dropdown menu, in that dropdown menu you could have a number of comments next to each selection.
Reason I would not place comments under each photo in photo page is merely matter of scaling. What happens if you get 75 comments for some photos, what about 450 for a couple of photos? This would need to be served each time a photo page is served, even if the visitor does not read them all.
