Well i finally had a chance to get out and try to capture the sunrise this winter. Today was probably the worst day i could have picked, not a cloud in the sky. Air temp was 4f with the wind blowing 20-35mph, and a wind chill of like, who cares how low. but i didn't manage to squeeze off a few pics, and here are a few, nothing special.
all images are uncropped and just some very minor editing in PS,
as always C&C highly apprecieated, so if anyone has any tips on how they might crop these or any adjustments please feel to edit,

That 1st one has potensial,i like it.
If only the exposure was corect,a grad filter would help in this case to equalise the sky with ground.
What is that black thing on the snow at the bottom right ?

thans dv2004,
i really like this shot as well and would like to fix it, do you think I under or over exposed? i did take a few different exposures that i could play with.
that black thing is a twisted old tree stump, i really like this spot and will have to go back out and try again, maybe when the wind is less . any ideas on a good crop? and i was thinking about attempting to get rid of the house in the corner, what do you think?

Well,if you are thinking of doing it again, why don`t you try to fit something more natural and better looking in the fg ?
If i was you,i would try to shoot it at a different time of day (just as the sun is up from the horizon) and the reason is that (i presume) you don`t have any filters and shooting with this kind of DR can be very extreme for the exposure.
Here your camera has tried to expose for the sky and the ground but of cours has failed to do so,you see...the DR is far too high.

OK i took some time last night and did some work on the first shot. this is a very bad attempt to use Photomatix to produce and HDR image, atleast i think that it is HDR:oops: , please let me know what you think of this version, i also did a slight crop, and i am still going to try to reshot this when the wind is not as bad as it has been,
as alway C&C appreciated.

Well, the snow has been exposed ok now and the sky is not bad but you`ve lost the mountain tops and also all the nderexposed areas have lots of colour noise, like the house and underneath the boat.

well the bottom line is that i will just have to shot this again, and try to not be a dummy and expose it correctly this time. i just wanted to have a go at the HDR software and see how it would look. thanks for all of your input, as it has really made me stop and think about what i am doing and what i want the end product to be.
