For those of you that bought qualifying products between October 1, 2003, and January 31, 2004, The 28th of February is the last day they will accept the claim forms. I just filled mine out today and will have to send it by Express Mail to make sure it gets there on time.

It's worth it, though. 4 lenses....$420.00.

Sent mine in for 2 lenses already... one was for the Dell debacle 70-200L IS lens. Ordered September 24, 2003 shipped in January 2004. Doesn't look like they're going to give me the double bonus on it

I got emails from the rebate handling company with a link. No progress yet (link always says it is in the final stages), but at least I know they got it.

And there were multiple emails - at first, it didn't look like I was getting the triple rebate, but a couple days later they sent more emails indicating the multiple rebates. It looks like there will be several checks, not just one.

Have Fun

The form was on the Canon USA web site www.canoneos.com But since the rebate ended on January 31, it has been removed.

Are you eligible to receive a rebate?

Thanks!

I'm in for $180 and didn't even know about this. Which is what I get for not looking in boxes or reading manuals.

But why oh why wasn't the 17-40 on the list too? Then I'd be getting some serious cash.

(Hmmm... He whines that $180 in free money isn't enough. Get real.)

I feel your pain. I bought one of those, too. I also had another lens that I bought in Septmeber that was on the list. That would've gottem me another $90.00. Who knew?

I'm in for $360 (triple rebate plus $25 for the 550EX. For those who are just sending them in now here's what I suggest.

1. read the rebate form carefully and send them EXACTLY what they are looking for.
2. make copies of everything; bar code (damn I hated cutting my boxes up like that), receipts, warranty card, etc...I scanned mine and save them all electronically.
3. bring it to the post office yourself and request "proof of delivery". It only costs about a $1.50 (I think). This way you can (a) prove you sent it in on-time and (b) that they actually received it.

I know this sounds a little on the paranoid side but these guys are just looking for ways to NOT give you the rebate you're entitled to. Remember, this is NOT Canon, it's a third party that handles their rebate program.

Good luck.

Rebates on top of the ridiculously low prices you already pay?
I give in - I am on the wrong side of the pond.

I shipped my package off to the rebate folks in Miami this afternoon. I spent $14.00 to make sure it gets there by noon tomorrow. I really shouldn't have waited this long, but rebates are a lot like income taxes in that regard.

Ironically, I figured that while I was at it, I'd fill out a few more rebate forms I had for office equipment I purchase recently from Staples. The address was nearly identical...Miami, same zip, and the P.O. box number was different by only 9 boxes.

I hope you all were able to find the necessary paperwork to assure your refund. They were really sticky in their requirements for documentation.

I just finished up gathering mine. The envelope is sitting waiting for the visit to the USPO tomorrow. Just in the nick of time, since I'll be mailing on Friday for a Saturday delivery.

Being cynical, I always appreciate things like the fact that Next Day Delivery is Guaranteed. So if the USPS screws up, I get my $13.65 back. I feel much better knowing that it's guaranteed, as I'll only be out $166.35 instead of the full $180.

I always try to get mine out ASAP, otherwise I know I'll be scrounging last minute to copy receipts, cut UPCs and make sure everything is in the envelope. I already got my confirmation via email. It turns out that I'm getting the double rebate after all, even though the Dell 70-200 was technically purchased outside the rebate period (ordered 9/24/03)... but I highlighted the "Invoice Date" on the packing slip, which showed a January date, so it looks like instead of just the $50 on the one lens, I get $160 for both :D :D :D

By the way, if you are at all like me, I'm always buying stuff with rebates. You might find this site helpful in the US: www.salescircular.com -- click on your state and on the "free after rebate" link... provides a lot of interesting items free after rebate (I love to buy the 50 or 100 pk CD-R spindles that are listed regularly).

Thanks for the heads-up. I got mine to the post office with less than an hour ago, hopefully there will be some grace period if the postmark is on or before the 28th... if not, I'm only out $15, so no shipping option in the world would have helped...

Hmmm

are rebates a Canon thing? or a USA thing?...

Depending on which of the above it is we UK peeps have two options;

1/ Launch a discrimination case against Canon

2/ Pack up and move to the US!

The UK completely sucks.
