Well, here are 5 images from the Mens EBL Cup Final at the Birmingham indoor Arena on the 7th Jan.

It was a shame as my local side (Worthing) ended up losing 85-80 and missing out on a winners medal. Ho hum, there is still the BBL Trophy Cup.

Anyway, the EXIF data is still attached if you are interested. There is quite a high level of noise as I think I underexposed quite a few as the readings from midcourt to baseline were about 1.0 -1.5 stops different.

I’ve still got to go through the images again as I have loads of stadium shots that I want to try and piece together for a wide angle view. Overall it was a great experience. I got to see how the pro’s work, and what the kind of shots they were going for. Great day out.

good shots, #3 is working for me the most tho, perhaps a tighter crop ?
Yes shots do look a tad underexposed, BB lighting is a nightmare so im told, so don't beat yourself up over it.

Good stuff Darren... sounds like you had a good day out despite the result. As Dandaman mentioned, might be an idea to crop in a bit tighter around the action.

Will look forward to seeing the venue shot. I'm sure I took one last year... I'll post it at some point when I've had a chance to look for it.

Biggest challenge at the NIA is dealing with that bizarre reflected colour cast off the court: Nasty yellow colour which pretty much constitutes mixed lighting... badly affected my cheerleader shots when I was there

Would be intrigued to hear what the pros were up to this year as there were precious few there for last season's finals!

Wow, looks like a pretty decent crowd. That's encouraging.

Thanks Danman. I had to trash a lost of the action/dunk shots as the boards around the court were ultra reflective and was blowing the backgound out. I would normally crop all of the photos tighter but I was trying to keep as much of the arena in as it is SO SO SO different to the gym, sorry arena that I am normally in. I was expecting the lighting to be better at the NIA, but it was more of a challenge as the lights were reflecting of of everything, tables, players vests, boards etc.I will try a tighter crop.Darren

Gavin, Thanks for the reply, despite the result it was a good day out. Well apart from the directions some one gave me. I ended up at the NEC!!! Great start. Just seeing the usual process of what usually happens was a benefit. I'm used to being able sit anywhere I want on the baseline. However at the NIA where were boards covering 90% of the court so tog's were crammed into a small area.I think most of the pro's turned up at the end of the EBL game getting ready for the BBL game. There were 2 however that were dumping and sending (3g card) after every quarter. The lighting was a light brighter but also very harsh. There were bright white boards around the court and I was getting huge reflections so I had to trash alot of otherwise perfect images. I got a few of the s as well, I try and post it tonight if I can.Darren

Thanks, offical figures have not been released, but I'd guess about 1000-1500.Darren

Darren,

Some nice images there, 1st one is the pick for me.

Had a similar problem with the bright highlights blowing out the background at the football on Saturday, its frustrating and spoilt some otherwise very ussable pics.

Good work though - lighting looked a tad interesting!!
