Hi Folks. I'm just getting starting here so please bear with me. I have a few questions about when and if a model release has to be submitted for stock photography sites.

Here are a few examples/\. Suppose I am on the beach, I take some great photos of a woman in a bikini anonomously and wish to submit them under nudes because she is topless. If I crop out her face or she is facing away from the camera, can the image be submitted without any release? I have looked at the nude catagory in Shutterstock and models that are nude but unreconizable, some have releases and some not. A bit confused here.

Next, if I attend a group glamour type shoot where a fee is paid for entry and there are several models and photographers. Again if none of the models faces are included in the shot, can it be submitted without a release as a stock image?

And last, if I take some headshots of an actor and want to isolate a part of the
face like the eyes or mouth, can this be used without a release?

Thanks for your help and expertise katt

What was the answer?

I was going to say try asking Shutterstock themselves.

Shutterstock has stated that ANY nude picture requires a release regardles of whether or not the model can be identified.

My question is HOW ON EARTH do you think that your snapshot of a nude WITH A CROPPED OFF HEAD is going to sell as stock?

And WHY do you think its OK to start snapping away on a topless stranger without asking their permission??

That just blows my mind!

@Julio
If a member is asking something in this forum, it doesn't mean he read all your other answers in all the other forums. This is IMHO not the lazy guy question "can you tell me , why" and I would like to see it as a fair gesture to send a link to the forum you already answered this question, not just telling him the general link..
