For those who care, last night I was able to use the 300MM IS f2.8 and I never really believed in IS until then.

The local college I attend has Canon cameras & lense for the students to learn with. Last night there was a private stage event going on and it was a good time to practice shooting low light events. Everyone in the school is not able to use this lense I was lucky to even here about us having it. Well anyway after begging & giving up my drivers license I was able to use this beast of a lens. ISO was set @ 800 & 1600, TV priority 1/125 and the IS button turned on this lense was on target with every shot. Now due to the private event I can't post any pics but PLEASE trust me if you ever have the chance to use this lense its GREAT. I hand held this lense for 1 1/2 hours and my arm was tired but the IS help kep all shoots focused.

Just some info I thought I would share, price of the lense $3900.00 but for those long range shooters who needs speed this is the lense to try.

I dream about this lens.... almost every night...

I understand it is Canon's BEST at focus trcking wth the 45 AF system in the "1" series...

And it's images are simply perfect.

I have been looking at the Sigma 300 f/2.8 and the Zoom 120-300mm f/2.8 because they are more in my price range.. but for now even those are out of the question.. (MkII has all my $)

But who knows,. maybe someday I'll be able to swing the Canon ?....

CDS,
You will be amazed by the Sigma 120-300 F2.8EX. I speak from experience and I keep on getting better with it! We went to Heathrow to get some practise for the upcoming season of airshows and the friend I went with was absolutely blown away by the pics I was taking. I as almost always let the pics do the talking. I will have to sort some of them and post it to the forum. That might get done this weekend. I might have to go show said person how to play with Elements 2.0 also. We shall see.

Cheers from England,
Canuck

Well, I can't quite afford the Canon version, but I am excited about the Tokina 300 f/2.8 that's on the way. :)

I hear that Tokina is one of there best.. by far. It's supposed to be a very good lens.

You'll be sure to give us a little review? I'd be very interested to hear your impressions.

I will review it and compare it to my Canon 300 f/4L IS. I bought it used and should have it Monday.
