It is just the way it was written on the shirt, if you look at the background and the symbol on her hat they are the right way around. Maybe its clever marketing? It made u notice! hehe Thanks for the comments

Widgetrich ........ I used mainly AV mode to get what little depth of field my lens will allow. I shoot with the apeture wide open (mainly 5.6 with my lens) It was a very bright day so The shutter speeds were around 1/1200 - 1/2000 with ISO 400

I like the "timing" of the 2nd shot the best. The way the ball has disappeared into the raquet strings.....beautiful.
You're lucky you didn't attend today....bloody hot in Sydney.

Wdigetrich, I found that an ISO any lower than 400 I couldn't use the shutter speeds I wanted, which meant blurred balls and racquets, I like to try and totally freeze the subject. What would have you used? like I said I'm always open to C&C, I'm relatively new ot this game

Indeed, why DID you shoot at ISO400? With shutter speeds like that, you could easily afford to drop down to ISO200, eg, and still get 1/1000th with a bit more ball blur, providing more movement in the picture without it appearing as a blur, and also maximising image quality through lack of noise.
And also, on these 'very bright days', maybe try metering from highlights, and then picking up some nice sidelit shots or such like, rather than having the whole frame evenly exposed. Check Getty Sport for lots of inspiration.

interesting shots, Did you sit in the stands or did you have a media pass?

In relation to shooting at ISO 400, using AV mode at ISO 200 the shutter speeds being selected were more like 1/640 or 1/800 and were yielding blurred components in the picture, I do always shoot at the lowest ISO possible. I guess I could have shot in full manual mode with ISO 200 and 1/1000 bu the pictures are not noisy so It seems. Also I did not have a media pass and these shots were taken from spectators seats.

By the way thanks Stacas, I'll be checking out Getty for sure and using some of those techniques you offered.

Awsome...
Love the timing on all the pics.
Looks like u had a good ratio of very good images.
Did you have to take permission to shoot or could anyone take pictures? Normally at such events they dont allow big lenses into the stands :(

Butcha, if you get another chance, try shooting from near the top of the stands too...with the sun beating down on the court, you'll get some lovely shapes with the shadows etc. and a clean, court-only background! Would love to see some of those efforts...I'm going to shoot from the stands at a few tournaments in the summer hopefully, looking forward to it!

Thanks for the wonderful comments I also had 2 earlier posts from 2 days earlier which had shots from that day if you care to have a look too :) I think you're set up will be fine Luke_1983uk same camera as me and a better lens barring the focal length which I rarely used at 300mm. I'd love to get to Wimbledon some day! Hopefully asa pro shooter! (yeah I'm dreaming now) Stacas I like the idea from the top of the stands too! And yes Bombay_shutterbug they let anyone shoot there, people everywhere with cameras of all sorts, naturally they'd frown on flash photography.
