The pictures are good, but a little too static. That is, you've done an excellent job at producing a great, crisp, sharp image. I see many of them at 1/2000 and 1/3000 - at 1/3000 even the hubs are frozen in time! Which is definitely not easy (I can olny imagine).

In my opinion I think these pics would be even better if they conveyed a sense of motion. Try slowing to 1/500 and panning to capture the car crisply but blur the background. This will give a great sense of motion to the pics.

BTW, I particularly liked Montoya.jpg.

I like your photos but tend to agree that the shutter speeds used were a little too high. Having said that to get decent images with the cars sharp and the backgrounds showing the panning motion is not as easy as one thinks (RFM would be the expert at this).

I have been to one F1 and one CART race with my 10D and it is damn difficult to get the kind of shots that I think are acceptable. So in the spirit of learning more I've already got tickets to this year's Montreal Grand Prix.

I have of both events on my site but nothing to the calibre of the resident expert RFM.

I tend to disagree with the shutter speed issue. At least in the case of the image titled BAR.jpg. As I look at that car I see two things that clearly state not merely motion, but raw power:

1) The stance of the car relative to the ground. The back of the car is sitting lower than the front. There is clearly a boatload of power being applied to the rear wheels. It looks like a big cat in the very first moment of pouncing.

2) The shimmy that is being caused by the exhaust over the HEU of the sign. Again, power. Looks more like a jet than an automobile.

I understand the point that the others have made re: motion blur, and in many cases they would be right. I beg to differ in this case. With a catch like yours, the tension created by the potential energy makes a better photograph than a display of kinetic energy.

Nice.

I didn't look at BAR, but after Radtech1's comments I did so, and the touches mentioned do a lot. I like that one much better because of those touches.
