Hiya All,

At last I managed to grab half an Hr to get some shots in, so I went for a quick mooch round the Church Yard, found a Wolf on the Church wall, Bark Louse on a Head Stone & a Lady Bug on a leaf in the Sun.

These were taken in a hurry so not that brill, ha what a lame excuse eh

Cheers for now
Mark

Good shots Mark- esp #2. :D
Hate to say it but #3 is a jumping plant louse (Psyllid) not a bark louse ;)

Good captures- particularly like numbers two and four. As for CONSTRUCTIVE (as I'm always told) criticism (lol) people are always telling me my macro shots lack DOP- it seems only recently after reading two books on macro photography do i understand fully what this entails- and now i can see how a 'deeper'? depth of field can improve a shot- i think it would be cool in number two to have a better DOF- but i think you said you were in a hurry so i guess the shutter speed needed the light, right? lol up here in Scotland I have to stop down (is stop DOWN, right? lol total newb still) to 2.8 most of the time to get a sufficient speed for handheld shots- ie. 1/100 sec or more.
All in all nice shots- any shots of the graveyard?

With macro you usually try to get the highest F stop you can, this Almost ALWAYS entails using a tripod, not only for the longer shutter speeds, but real close up the littlest of movements will 'hurt' the image.

So use a tripod, a good heavy one, remote release or timer (though they have a nack for taking the picture at the worst possible moment, ha) and if you can a mirror lockup.

Very nice pictures by the way ;)

Cheers!

Hiya Brian, Richard, Doug, Irwin, Artur, Dave.

To those who I've not yet apologised to sorry for not replying sooner I won't go into all the details but suffice to say we've back at Hosp. with Mike, he's now back home & we're all shattered.

Many thanks for your advise & comments much appreciated as always.

I somehow knew I'd get that ID wrong Brian, my toast always lands Butter side down ;)

I'm hoping Dave that with all my Contraptions get the measure of this 400 sooner rather than later.

Anyway folks I'm goina sling a cuppa down my throat put my feet up & chill it's been in ' OZ ' terms a real ' Bugger ' of a week & thats the truth.

Cheers for now

Some good shots there Mark.

It is lovely and mild for the time of year. Must try and get a chance to get out myself and find some bugs - bit of a problem at present though.

Hiya BigAl, Lester,

Many thanks for your comments, Slowly but surely Al, if it wasn't for this damn weather here.

As Lester says it's unseasonably mild, trouble is I live right on the coast & we catch the most horrendous stormy weather, we've had two dry days since Christmas Day, now if I had a good zoom lens I could be posting some wicked Landscape or rather Seascapes as the Sea has been monstrous of late.

Cheers for now

Nice shot of old wolfie. We used to get a whole ton of those wolf spiders in our house before we moved. There was a gap under the fireplace and they used to come from user there. Pity I didn't have my macro lens then

That ladybug shot is SO eye-catching. Would make a super poster. Lovely composition. We get those wolf spiders in our house, ICK!!! I am both fascinated and repulsed by them. As long as they don't get too close to me, I operate on a live and let live policy. :)

Hiya Lisa, Carole,

Many thanks for your kind words & comment, the Wolfie is my favorite Spider, closely followed by the Jumpers, guess I'm lucky or just plain weird but I can let any ' Creepy Crawlies ' wander all over me.

Cheers for now
