I found from the CF performance database in Rob Galbraith's site and it seems that the Hitachi 4GB MD performs quite differently in different DSLR:
http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007

Hitachi Microdrive 4GB on 300D - 719K/sec ,678K/sec
Hitachi Microdrive 4GB on 10D - 757K/sec ,746K/sec
Hitachi Microdrive 4GB on 1DS - 1184K/sec ,1601K/sec
Hitachi Microdrive 4GB on D2H - 1484K/sec ,1934K/sec
Hitachi Microdrive 4GB on DCS Pro14n - 3152K/sec, N/A

The first speed is for RAW and the second is JPEG. In general, it performs better in Kodak and Nikon but not Canon. And it has the worst performance in Canon 10D and 300D. And the difference can be up to 4 times!

Is it due to FAT16/FAT32 issue or other hardware specific reasons? Any improvement can be made?

Also anyone has other test statistics on this 4GB MD in prosumer DC e.g. Canon G1, Sony V1, Sony 828, etc?

Thanks!

Not at all--My 4gb Hitachi has proven dead reliable since I quit using it--years ago! :D

Hey, someone's gotta liven up the joint once in a while. ;)

Liven it up?

Sure.

2004, though, is more like bringing it back from the dead

Kinda Rocky Horror Picture Show-esque ;)

Kinda Rocky Horror Picture Show-esque ;)Mark is embarked on a mission to boost his post count (and destroy his [non-existent] credibility) by waking up the deadest threads he can find. I'm torn between defeating his first aim and supporting his second goal.

Now, Now, if I was to embark on a voyage culminating in boosting post count, I'd engage in the mindless drivel awash in the lounge.

Nope, I'll keep it technical, thank you.

As to credibility, well, that's a whole 'nother story for a different day.

Noticed where you're posting?

Nope, but if this topic is in the lounge, some Mods are slackin' off. Last time I looked, Cards/drives belonged in accessories and storage.

So, get on da ball.

Nah. By definition anything you revive goes here. Far be it from us to mislead any innocent young newcomers into thinking you should be taken seriously.
