This is a tricky problem. See i have a clear object (a glass). I need to take a picture of it. THEN in PS cut out the bg right next to the edges of the glass and then apply a drop shadow.

The main problem is that i want this glass to be in a completely white bg, andi want a to add a drop shadow on it in PS.

How do you do you do this?

There are different ways and it depends on the picture which is the easiest, but I'd start using the magnetic lasso to create a selection mask, and then use the paintbrush/eraser tools in quick mask to tidy it up.

Then invert the selection and clear the background and fill with white.

as you say you are going to take a photo of it, take the photo against a bright white background - it will make your life MUCH easier!
