I just got a comment and edit from guy on Photo Net for this photo. It seems that that software (here Neat Image), work really good for slightly grainy/noisy images as this one, even after heavy sharpenning. I don't have that software, but after looking at this, I am seriously thinking about buying. Anybody else with experience with this or other similar software ? Examples would be really nice.

There is a free version of Neat Image available for download - this is what I use for all my web pics (free version only works up to a size of 1024 pixels wide).

Noiseware is another- what you have to be carefull of is losing detail in the white feathers leveing blank white area's so a bit of tweaking is needed often Default is to much.

Nevermind the software... what the heck is going on is this picture?

I also use Neat Image. It can be a one click process with caution. I tried Neat Image on the original and it warns you that it may degrade the subject, which it did. You can, however, adjust Neat Image to ignore certain colors (like white) and it will do the job on the background without degrading the subject. I did not post the edit because you do not have "image editing OK" enabled on your account.

That's my question. Did he fall asleep during approach? :D

I have NeatImage, but only use it occasionally. I guess I need to read the instructions, cause I never knew about ignoring the whites. :o

I have no idea what happened. Maybe he wanted to pick up something, but missed it. Anyway, I was really surprised that you can sharpen the grainy image and still remove grain/noise. It can be handy at least for some web-postings.
Dancinec, I will enable image editing if I find it in options. Can someone help with that?

Looks good. Noise Ninja and Noiseware, standalone Pro works wonders too. Noiseware has a 20% discount right now, and they don't have these specials often. Use THANKS2006 as the code and the discount will show up at checkout.

There are so many new great new software packages out there. I'd think Photoshop would have grabbed the best of them instead of some of the things they have done with their updates.
