I wasn't going to post this image, until a Friend of mine (photographer) insisted that i should. So here it is. What do you think?

Very good, nice b&w conversion from an unusual angle... I like it, glad you posted it.

I like it too.. definatley a different perspective to those we usually see, but i think the b/w conversion is what really stands out. :)

Thats a fine image
May I submit this edit?

I felt that it would look even better if the black and white tone were adjusted to bring up a nice blackness for the sky.
I used curves to bring the image out.
Also with a bit of dodge and burn to bring up the clouds and highlights.

Hope you dont mind.

I prefer the first image.
Very good take on this famous landmark. Good job

Yes I like this , an unusual but appealing take on a familiar landmark. Perhaps a touch more space at the top?

I like the original post. The edit is missing detail in the shadows. The composition is really good. The diagonal gives it speed or a dynamic feel even though it's a frozen shot. Good idea to post it.

Good to see a new take on a familiar sight, love the shot. I do not think the edit brings anything to the party though.

?????
Well there is only a little loss of detail in the shadow and thats under the pods as I see it.
I do like the original but it does still look like someone has just hit the greyscale button and flipped it into default black and white.

I think the edit is better because the photo pops out at you now.
There is no light grey to mid grey wishy washy gradient as you see in the sky and parts of the wheel structure. The edited version separates the ironwork from the flat background.

The highlighted shine on the wheel really stands out now and the black and white feel of the edit IMO is far better then shades of grey.
Its what photoshop and channel mixer was invented for surely!

I like them both, just like mine better.

Thank-you all very much for the feedback. Glad you like the composition and B+W conversion. :D

Your friend the photographer was right. Nice perspective.

David Lee: Technically you may be correct with your edit. However, I think it is a little to harsh in the sense that it changes the mood of the shot. Did that make sense?

Yes It does make sense and I supose it does change the mood somewhat.
I was'nt looking to mess around with the mood of the original I just prefer to see true black and white in a vibrant image but it does not work with all images. Some things are better left alone I guess.

I really love the art of Black and White photography.
