Hi All,

I want to take some photos of a white clothed subject with a black background and need some tips on not having the scene grey out due to the 18% factor. Do I set my exposure to the black background or the white or do I just take the picture with -2/3 exposure? I want the black and white to really contrast. I will also be taking the picture in B&W too.

Thanks

Take a reading directly from your subject skin using your camera, then go to manual mode and lock that setting in. The whites might blow out a little, hopefully not. If they do, dial it back down 1/3 to 2/3 - like you said. Good luck!
