Native 8x10 prints on i9900 possible?

Canon sells 8x10 pro photo paper, but the printer doesnt seem to be able to print in that format borderlessly. am i missing something?

I may be wrong, but I think the 8x10 paper is a lot newer on the market than the printer.

Thus, I think the i9900 would require a driver update to print to the new paper size being offered.

Needless to say, I have allways simply printed 8x10 aspect images to 8.5x11 paper and trimmed it.

yes CDS, i definitly agree. since i know canon just came out with it within a few months ago, since it never existed till then. i was just wondering if there was a driver/firmware update for the printer that allowed it to use this paper. i wanted to be able to print at 8x10 to use standard matte/frame sizes instead of always custom making/ordering them, but ohh well.

Give CDS' method a try. Framing/matting is much easier with a border around the print to work with and if you want exactly 8X10 you have that option too. All you need is a rotary trimmer and straight edge. Haven't checked prices but I imagine the more common 8 1/2 X 11 is cheaper than the "specialty" 8X10 paper.

i do a lot of matting and am fully aware of the usual meathods. in this case i got one of those all glass frames and therefore need a borderless print as the print mounts directly in between the panes of glass. I ended up just printing it on 8.5x11. i only brought this up because i bought a pack of canon 8x10 paper in hopes i could bypass the above time consuming meathods.

Yeah, I bought some 8X10 Ilford premounted only to discover you can't print borderless with it. Go figure...

I finally got it and my PC set up in the new house this past weekend.
It's simply frighteningly huge! I have not had time to go through all the testing stuff, don't even have the best papers for it yet, but I can say this.

the seemlesness of the prints is simply astounding. My quick trials have shown a total lack of "ink drop grain" ..

I need to grab some good papaer (whatever that may be) and really give it a good workout before saying much more,. but from what I've seen so far,.. I think I'll keep it :) :) :)
