I couldn't resist shooting this structure that seems to be trying to resist the inevitable. My father used to work here, and I even spent a short time making steel here.

Nice! How the heck is that thing still standing??? Looks like it's just waiting for a gust of wind to flatten it.

It is boggling to my mind. For all 40 years of my life, there has been the huge steel mill just down the road from my house. For various reasons, the steel mill closed down several years ago, yet it remained. I mean, its a Steel Mill. Huge buildings full of HUGE machines. Where could they ever go? How could you possibly take them down? Well, tu my disbelief it has taken approx 1 year to remove EVERYTHING. The building was the last remaining. Last week It caught my eye, as it looked post-apocolyptic. I knew that I needed to shoot it in its beastly glory. I shot that on 1-11-07. Today, 1-12-07 it is missing one of the smoke stacks, and more of the structure is gone. Soon to be, History.

I've only just begun this fantastic hobby, and only have 70mm lens. I shot this form about 1/4 mile away or further. Here is the orig, just cropped and resized.

Neat shots! Looks like a relic from another time. Well, I guess it is, manufacturing is sadly going the way of the dinosaur in this country.
