Panning practice shot. I used Servo and P mode with a monopole. What do I need to do to improve on this.

All I would do is try to lighten up the underside of the bird and crop away some of the tree.

Great stop action shot.

Excellent Panning shot... very good results.

One of the common approaches to composing a shot of a moving subject like this is to have the subject moving into the picture,. in other words,. crop more off the right hand side than the left hand side in this case so the gull is not centered,. but over towards the right,. flying in to the center..

Was the first shot you posted the original?

If so,. you don't have a lot of image to the left to make this happen,. so it would be a "next time" suggestion.. try to leave more frame in front of a subject then behind..
