I was trying out my new lens this evening and found it to be different than the rest of my Canon lenses. With my other lenses, when you turn the MF ring it reaches a stop in both directions. When you turn the ring on my new lens, there is no stop and it continues to turn freely. Is this a problem with my new lens, or normal operation?
Thank you.

Do your other lenses have true USM moters? USM lenses all behave like that I belive.

All my lenses have USM motors. Randyk found this to be normal operation, so I will assume my new lens is working as designed.
Thank you both

I just checked out your gallery, very nice. It looked like some were from EMP?

Yeah - a couple of those are from the EMP. I really need to update my gallery - I have tons of stuff that should go up.

My 70-200mm f4l does the same. My manual says it's normal. Don't worry about it...Dean
