That was my first L. At first I bought the non IS version but I felt I might regret it later so I took it back and paid the extra $600. Worth every penny!!!!
You will love this lens!
Now all you need is the 17-55 2.8 IS (my next lens) and you will have the "dream team" of lenses!!!

Congrats. I had the non-IS, loved it, but I now have the IS. I am having some problems getting this tuned in, but when I do, it will be a joy. I don't know though, I had back surgery yesterday, and this thing, when I get to take it out, might break a few more discs. ;)

I just looked at your website, musicphotog.com. I'm about to purchase a new EOS 30D and would love to know what lenses you use in some of those shots. I plan on using my 30D for shooting in small music clubs and medium sized events. I love the shots you have on the website. Any recommendations on one or two "must-have" lenses? Thanks.

I actually had this lens a few years ago when I shot with a 1V HS but sold it to go to medium format. Regretted that one... Have come full circle...

question: how do you get a bunch of photog nerds excited?
answer: mention the letter L :)
i'm so excited about this. i wish i had it this weekend for my trip to the woods.........but i know there will be plenty to shoot once i do get it.
joe, hit me on pm if you have any specific question. exif data is in tact for a lot of the more recent pictures in the gallery. as fars as "must have lens" for concert. this 70-200 is and then pretty much right down the line to the 16-35. you gotta go fast.

Congrats on the 70-200. You'll love it. Sure it's a bit heavy, but it's a good heavy. Just start working out your upper body a bit.
Oh, and find a duck.

You're gonna love it . . . but you knew that already!
Mine was suppose to be the 100-400IS but I took a look at one today and they are GIANT!!! :shock:How the heck am I gonna lug that around the woods all day. :???:Looked at the alternatives? 400 alone just won't cut it - you need something between 100 and there; maybe a couple of somethings if you go the prime route. And there aren't all that many super-tele zooms. If the 100-400's too big, forget Bigma which about leaves Tamron's or Tokina's 200-500s, which aren't small either.
