So Marylander's.....Where and Who are you?.......

Im in Southern Anne Arundel County about 15 min from Annapolis and pretty close to D.C.

I love to shoot sports, kids, nature and of course Annapolis, D.C. and Bayscapes.....

I am in school and would very much like to make a living with my camera.

Whos NEXT....? :D

Hello Tracy, I'm located in Pasadena. Here are two more threads that may be of interest to you - there are lots of people in the area!

Here is a thread where a bunch of local POTN-ers got together for the Baltimore Aquarium Dollar Days:
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=224335

And a southern Pennsylvania thread with lots of Marylanders:

Also, since you're in the area, have you checked out the Arundel Camera Club? -> http://www.geocities.com/arundelcamera/

I'm near White Marsh.

As John mentioned, there are several of us around, and we have had a few meet-ups. Keep an eye on the Members forum. . .

I shoot a lot of different things when I have time, but motorsports is my favorite. Summit Point, in WV is close and has a variety of events.

Glad to hear from you, and I hope to see you at a future shoot.

Have Fun,

I don't live in MD anymore, but I still work in Harford County. I live just over the border in southern York County, Pa.

I live pretty close to you. I'm right off HWY 50 and 197 in Bowie. Pretty much directly between Washington DC and Annapolis. Give me a hollar when you want to go out for a beer and start some bar brawls.

I'm probably doing Patapsco state park again soon - just need to find another great weekend. 50 or so degree weather is perfect for lugging camera gear around the woods. If anyone else is interested in getting together a mini-meet mention something here and we can start a new thread. I'm looking at either the 21st or 28th of this month.

Most likely do the Avalon area again which is located off Washington Blvd. Admission is $2 per car load this time of year. Local to the area is Cascade falls, the swinging bridge and the old flour mill. Easy access to the train tracks. Going to try to catch a train or two as the track curve there would make for a nice shot - got a few frequencies a train buff friend of mine gave me.. Should be able to get a head start on any trains coming that'a way.

Theres also the Thomas Viaduct about a mile or so up the road and plenty of pavilions with charcoal grills to eat lunch at. Or just run out for lunch.

Im completely unfamiliar with those locations but they sure sound awesome.....I would like to think im up for that kind of trekking, but I certainly wouldnt want to hold anyone back! (camera gear plus extra 25 lbs of baby can wreak havoc on a body!) I feel like a weenie lazy person right now but in non preggo reality im the first in hiking boots round these parts.
Today would have been a great, specially for those whos work observed the holiday. Alas, my work does not....phlssspspsptptpspt on them. oh well.

Tracy, the good part about Avalon area is that Cascade falls, the bridge, flour mill and tracks are within five minutes away. There is a somewhat steep hill to get to the falls. Everything else is pretty much 'easier' terrain.

Here is a brief summary of the area, wish they had more information available online. Guess they want you to buy their topo maps which do a great job at pointing out all the neat features of the areas. http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/central/patapscovalley.html

Looks like fun Jon, usually my plans fall through with family, but still planning to be away for that weekend on the eastern shore. I certainly want to get together all the locals from here when the weather breaks. Should be a lot of fun!

Hoping to get to Chincoteague Refuge while east but might end up living in the hot tub for a few days.. :)

If time is a factor, try Assateague - the ponies are always good for a couple shots. . .

Have Fun,

Thanks Rick, thats an idea too since we're staying just west of the rt 50 bridge into OC. I heard a season pass can be purchased for around double that the week-long pass can be had for (if they even charge for entry during the off season). If I have enough subjects from Assateague I may not even make it to Chincoteague.

Looking for birds to shoot mainly, but I won't ignore the ponies.

Hahaha, I used to pass those as I drove past them at work. I called it 'Essex Epcot'.

The blue flames that are distant off the beltway might make a wonderful shot..
