I need to position my printer in the same place my old parallel cable allowed for printer placement. However, the USB cable is only 6' long. Is it acceptable or has anyone used a 6' USB extension cable with the printer plugged directly into the computers USB port (not a hub)?

I don't want to waste money on the cable if I am going to have to rearrange my desk anyways...when it doesn't work.

I'm running my i9100 at the end of a 15 foot (6 foot plus 9 foot extension) USB lead directly into a USB 2.0 card. I've had no problems at all.

I only find problems when you need to power devices over long USB cables, e.g. webcams etc.

Cheers

Ian
