next upgrade tp 30D????

i am after a second canon camera to go with my 20D, the 30D is not a big change, very similar to 20d, i did think of the 400d but it is too small, i want to upgrade but not to the 5D, what do you think the 40D? will be like, and when? if at all.

I'm with you.........I will only bite on the 40D if it has Digic III and a few other upgrades that improve image quality. Otherwise, the 20D is just as good as the 30D for me.

There are many people expectation's for the new launches from Canon (If any), but it looks like the 40D and the 1DMkIII are the favorites in the rumors list for next Feb-March.

My decision it will be taken in function of the specs/price.

If the 40D is going to be little improvement over the 30D in the same style as this one (just dust removal + spot+ some 2MP more), probably I shall jump off over next "category" and see if the 5D drops or the announced 1D MkIII is on the same price level of the actual 5D; as the rumors say.

Or just keep waiting until the year goes on and new announcements are coming (if any: 5D Mk II or 7D or whatever). Still I am not desperate, but one thing it´s true, I shall look for something "significantly better & improved" over my 350D, and honestly the 30D it isn´t.

I am with frenchy I want something better than my 20ds, hoping the 40d will have digic 3 and 12 mp or I may have to check out the 5d, although I would like to keep the 1.6 crop. hmmmmm decisions decisions I am so confused.

Why not the 5D? I have the 5D and the 20D and am considering going exclusively FF. Totally love the 5D.

i live in east haven but am operations manager at the chevy dealership in wallingford for past 13 years.

i have the 350xt and 17-85is... learning as i go with the help here and a lot of reading of the recommended books as i am a late arriver to dslr's.

i wish to upgrade to the 30d replacement as soon as it comes out.

funny as one of my customers just got the canon 30d i do like the larger size and feel.

If a 40d doesn't come out in Feb/March, I would be definitely buying 400d with grip. I really need something faster than my cam, and pixel count for me is important as some clients are asking for photos 8mpix and larger without resampling.

That's great if it would be a 1.6x crop..............as long as it has the new Digic III image sensor !!!!! What a trade off!!!!!!!!

I have 2 2ods and today I ordered a 5d, but if there is a 40d out and has 12 mpxls and 1.6 crop with digic3, I will max out the old mastercard to get it.
