No PP (needs some to tame highlights). Describes how the bride appeared to be feeling at the time quite well. More to come.

Nice one, Tim.
I'm in the process of copying over all my cards from today's wedding... I think I'll get them all safely backed up and then hit the sack. It's been a long day.

I'm definitely feeling like i'm less crap than average.

Love the surroundings in the second one - makes me homesick :(
Where was it taken?

Tim, excellent exposure and all that... but I think the bride would look more appealing if she wasn't shot straigt front, as she's a bit "wide". You could make her look slimmer if you had her posing differently.

Posing her differently didn't make her look any better, I don't think. A few from above maybe. Haven't looked at them all yet.

Have to agree with Petra on the pose. As you say, the first also needs a little work on the highlights/contrast maybe.
Absolutely love the second - beautiful shot.

I agree about the pose. Something to show off those cute cap sleeves would be nice. What did you mean by this, "I'm definitely feeling like i'm less crap than average?" Do you mean you're not too happy with your shots?

This is about as slim as this girl looks in any photo, it's reasonably flattering. By "less crap than average" i'm comparing myself with other wedding photographers, locally and around POTN. I do like that 2nd image. I'm just about to go through the photos now so will post a thread later today probably.

Tim, take this the right way, but I think if you had posed the bride just like you did with the girl to the right in the second image, it'd make a more appealing portrait of her, as she's not in a total frontal - wide as a door - pose.

Ok thanks Petra :)

Right.
Tim, I'm sure you have some great ones in there. I'm looking forward to seeing some more. :)

I guess looking at them as someone who was there is different, I know the emotions and can guess better how she was feeling at the time, because I have context. The bride and family will look at it like that. Everyone else just looks at the photo.

Was she sad, or just overwhelmed with emotion? (w/o getting too personal, of course)

Stressed, hurried, anxious, rings had just been found (took 15 minutes of people searching the house).

I like the second shot Tim.
You're right about context. Too bad we all think weddings are supposed to be the greatest day...sometimes (often?) it can be the worst.

It wasn't a bad day, it was just stressful for the bride :)

That's what I meant...can be quite hard for the bride.

It never fails to amaze me at how differently everyone "sees" a photograph and everyones opinion on them. Personally I don't even see this bride as "wide". What catches my interest and makes a photo a work of art to me is when it's something you don't see in every photographers portfolio and it shows feeling or emotion.
I like this photo (the B&W) because it's near symmetry is offset just enough by the slight tilt of her shoulders, the bend in her right arm, and the uneven veil, all which tell me her body language is not that of a posed soldier. I also really like her expression, it's definitely not "Cheesy".
I like it a lot!

I forgot to add that the second photo really upsets me with all that green! No fair, I had to plod around all day in snow and sub zero temps:)

Thanks JustKat :) The green had a little help from the "vibrance" slider in CS3 ACR 4.0, but it was really nice there. That place is about ten minutes drive from my apartment in the middle of the city :)

Does anyone else see any irony in the act of increasing the exposure of photo of a man wearing a kilt? Increasing a scotsmans exposure...

I really like #2... I guess what's not so flattering in #1 (to me) is the look on her face. I'm sure it was a stressful moment but she doesn't look all that happy... LOVE #2 though :)

Not a big fan of #1. I see that wideness. It's not your best, but its not a complete disaster, but its a good one to learn from, because as photographers we are always learning. Experiences craft us.
I look back and some of my old photos(whether it be sports, portraits, etc). Some photos I used to like, i don't like anymore and photos i maybe didn't like I might like. It's interesting.
Love the colors in #2. So vivid.
