My s230 is shuts itself down after 20-30 seconds. The battery is full; I've tested two different, fully charged batteries with the same result. I've done some research on this forum and found the following articles about other models:

In his post, Eric99 makes reference to "a post about a German site devoted to the S100 that says it's an "internal voltage circuit" that degrades over time." He pretty much rules out this being a battery problem.

I'm also inclined to think this is not a battery problem but a problem with the camera. Has anybody experienced this problem and had it fixed? If so, how much?

Thanks!

is there not a feature on most Canon camera in "my camera" setting where you can adjust the "power saving" settings for automatic shutdown in order to save your batteries?

Look for that...

Look at "Canon S110 battery life" posted 19 May 2008. It's the same battery as the S230and may help you.

I have a similar problem with my old but loved S230, and have just started trying out the advice given. I'll keep you informed

It works!

The NB-1LH battery which used to take about 30 shots (and that number slowly falling) now takes 175, and charging time has gone up from 20 minutes to two hours

are you referring to the advice I gave about taping one of the contacts?
