Im trying to be as paitent as possible for the next release of camreas...

40D or a new 5D or a new Mark II 1Dn ....

Anyone know when Canon is supposed to give news to the new cameras?

I want to upgrade soon from my 20D and given that I primarily shoot wildlife, the 1D MkII N would be my choice today. That being said and given that I won't have the money for a couple of more months, waiting for me is a must.

PMA is coming soon and with the 5D at 12mp and the Xti at 10 I am guessing that the next incarnation of the MkII N will have a bump up in that department. Although the bump up in megapixels from 8.2 won't make a huge difference to me, it probably is important to Canon in marketing terms against the competition and so I look for it to happen sooner rather than later.

Anyways, this is all purely conjecture and a bit of wishful thinking on my part and the reality will as always will become known to us all in short order. So, yes if you are the, "I must have the latest type," then patience is the key.

I would wait...I suspect a new body before April this year. But if you have to jump now, get the 5D for it's superior image quality over the 1D Mark IIn, although the 1DM2n has higher frame rates, and better ergo's....it produces more noise at high ISO however, and lower resolution for a given frame/composition.

The 5D + Mark II1Dn combo sounds o so tempting...But now $ is the limmiting factor.

I plan on keeping my 20D, and getting either the "new 5 d or 1Dn" if they even come out with one.

I am weighted more in the studio than outdoor or sports shooting, so I can justify a 5D over a MarkII1Dn at this current point in time. But a part of me just wants a Canon flagship camera.... sigh

I'm a sports guy, so the new 1DIIn replacement is for me, but for you, I would go with the 5D, or at least hang on for another month and see if they come out with a new one. What would you do with 8.5 frames per second? Get the resolution.

Hanging on and holding my breath...:o

Yup, we/youll have to do the one thing that alot of people around here hate to do....WAIT! What a cruel world we live in right? I can only hope they push the PMA event closer to now. But we all know that aint gunna happen.

I still shoots sports, birding, and action when I can... + when Im out and about I feel the need/want for weather proofing. I figure the 1Dn would make a great al around solution for both studio and outdoor.

Keeping the 20D as a backup, but yes, I would like the resolution too, which is the reason why Im waiting for the new IDn. I really hope they keep the same FPS or faster with MORE resolution...

I would say 3 out of 10 times I will usually buy from my local camera shop (more like 15 miles or so away, but its the only pro camera shop in the state) and fork over more rather than save the money at B&H,Adorama,Amazon, or ebay just so I dont have to wait.
