After spending a successfull morning with our local snowy owl, Scott and I went to locate the hawk owl. It was a great experience being able to get full frame shots of this beautiful Boreal owl. Unfortunately, Gary Fairhead had to go work on his green house and decided to pass on the hawk owl.
This one is for Gary:lol:

Damn nice !! Your shutter finger must have thawed out by the time you got there:D Like I said this morning... this is the Owl I most want to re-visit from last year...what a beauty. The Snowy is beautiful too with the black beak jutting out from its normal hideaway of feathers...
I was pretty sure you would find this Owl Marc...you have the nack. BTW...its not a Green house its an addition:D

We were still frosty from the morning but managed well. However at the end of the shoot, we were quite cold....
Well worth the cold!

These are such gorgeous creatures and wonderful shots. Are there owls to be found in Southern Ontario (nearest to Kitchener?) at this time of year?

I read Don Wigle's report to Ontbirds. He mentioned many photographers there. I hear with patience one can get very good shots as it perches on fence posts near the road. I was going to head up that way yesterday but decided to spin out to Casselman instead. But I will be going to photograph the Northern Hawk Owl today weather cooperating.
