I'm scanning all my sister's slides for her before they deteriorate too much further.

In 1966, this was the inside of the movie theatre in Camooweal (Outback Queensland, Australia).

(No, the roof didn't collapse; it never had one to begin with!)

Interesting shot indeed, especially with the story.

Years later open air theatres all the rage in Oz!
Only problem I can think of - very difficult to roll the Jaffas down the aisle. :)

Broome, WA has one that is still in use. On a really high tide, you just lift your feet up if the water comes through!

No Sound! The projectionist yelled out the dialogue through one of the projection holes you see there. Bad when the movie was "The Sound of Music". :D

(Just kidding of course...I'll have to ask my sister what the sound was like.)

Looks to me like a 1.0 sound system by the looks of that slick white bullhorn speaker. Probably not hi-fi, but then if Bose has anything to do with it, it'll sound like there are fifteen or so speakers all around, over, and under the viewing audience...

...ooh wait. I looked again, and what I see as a speaker is probably a light. Damn... never mind.

That's a beautiful shot even without the story!
