Sunday January 21 I'll be visiting Croton Point Park, Croton-on-Hudson to try to see some Bald Eagles. I think the park opens at 9am and I'll be there with a few photogs friends.

For more info see this link and do a google search for NY Bald Eagles. ;)

Been sort of been keeping an eye/ear out for NY bald eaglers.....

Someone on another list is stating that the current eagle count is way low and that the migration hasn't even started yet.

Are you going to grab anything you can, or you specifically have bald eagles in mind?

You have any other positive bald eagle info?

Would definitely like to hear some :)

So, how was it? Did you see and eagles? I wish I saw this post. I would have loved to join you. I may go next weekend, maybe the saturday before superbowl.

Well....I showed up!!!!!!!

<evil grin...nudge poke>

Myself, a local friend and a member of FM showed up at Croton Point Park.

Not knowing the park, or being birders, we kind of just floundered.

We hit the north point. That's were I read on a few of the park sites that eagles congregate.

The topography really didn't elicit much of a photo op; at least from our vantage point.

We hit the south point, which was better, but still no joy.

The three of us decided to head back and have some lunch, and while walking back to the cars...low and behold! A pair of juvies roosting in a tree!

But, @*($^%, by the time we readied ourselves with our gear, they had flown off mid-river and circled high.

One more mature juvie flew directly overhead:

I think the next time I go for baldies, I'm waiting on a definite report of a few in the area :) :) :) :)

Tom, your link didn't work, so I went to your main page.

Is this a picture you took there?

It's excellent.

And I'd love to get together with you and go shooting.

Hey Mark,

The original link was a joke :)

The link you found was from this weekend's
shoot in Barryville, NY....

Definitely more eagles there than at Croton Point Park.

Thank you very much for the comment, but I think my image is poo poo LOL!

You have anything/anyplace in mind to go shooting?

Throw me an email as I rarely check my PMs...

If anyone is interested, and I don't know why you wouldn't be as Tom is buying breakfast and lunch and throwing in a buck toward my bus fare, I'll be meeting him this weekend for some eagle shooting.

I don't know if it's still the season, but there are a lot of eagles up here in Cortlandt Manor. The scenic view off the Bear Mtn Bridge Road looks over Iona Island where they hang out.

Again...I'm not a birder, but I do believe we're towards the end of the "season"....and don't think it was all that great by the weather conditions?
