I've dropped mine a few times. The farthest it's fell in the bag is about 5-1/2 feet, damn cat somehow pushed the bag off the top of my gun safe. Heard the thud when it hit the floor. All you can do is shoot a few shots and see if everything seems OK, then look for the cat .

I thinkI would be looking to shoot the cat with something other than the camera:lol:

Sounds like ya lucked out. If its inside the bag it should be able to withstand the fall easily. Glad it all seems to be ok.

Do a focus chart test to make sure your lenses didnt suffer. If it doesnt show any strange behaviour, focuses fine and takes pictures then don't worry.

Camera was fine, no damage done. The cat ended up getting a pardon and survived also.

You don't say which camera or lens you have. The main danger is a big, heavy lens where the lens-body mount is the weak link. A short lens on any Canon body properly stashed in the Lowepro bag should survive.

I know someone who had her XTi fall out of a cheap bag from about 4.5 feet onto asphalt. Lukily it hit onthe corner of the body and not on the lens mount. Camera is just fine.

No, but if your camera 'seems to work well'.. chances are it's fine, right?

I've watched my Lowepro bag full of equipment go down many a hill and drop down steps. I don't even flinch. Those bags are very well designed and the cameras and lenses are built solidly.
There are many horror stories though.
