Yes, and "lack thereof" (lighting) is the technical challenge. If I were to choose between the two posts, it would be #1 in the first post. It's a tad dark, but a crop just to the left of his right arm improves the pic greatly plus it reduces the relative feeling of darkness by eliminating the dark area. I would have posted the crop, but you have image editing turned off. I do like the light sillhouetting his shoulders.
#2 and 3 might be a tad too dark. 3 is lacking enough detail to identify the person. But then again, the low lighting exhibits a moodiness. In #4, the bass player is highlighted above the background vocalist if that was your intent. All in all, tho, for a first attempt at such a challenging lighting situation, I think you did a decent job. /Dan
