I was browsing through a photographer friend's book collection and realized that there are so many shooters who have contributed in their own way to evolve photography into a fine art. Perhaps it would be helpful to have a section on the forum where members of the POTN community can profile their favorite photographers (luminary or obscure) and introduce why they have been inspired by their work...maybe even provide links for further reading and exposure to their favorite artist's work?
It would help many of us broaden our horizons into what makes good photography. Just a thought...

It could be done in a thread, I think. Just a simple "what's your inspiration?"
It could go into the members activities forum. Just not important enough to dedicate a whole forum to it. If we did that, there'd have to be a forum for a bunch more things, as well.

Already been done, on THIS THREAD. (http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=27178)
I just posted one of my favorites, to help revive the thread. Why don't you do the same? :D

Thanks for pointing me to that thread, very enlightening. What I pictured in mind was a kind of 'encyclopedia' section with names being thread titles; and anyone who has info or is some authority on that particular photog can offer comment or insight on their work. I'm wondering if we could have something organized like that close at hand rather than needing to plumb the archives to revive a 'dead' thread...just some musings. On the other hand, we could always go to wikipedia right?
