Are you talking about in town weddings, or for air travel?

Ooo, I was talking about shows and weddings..not travel...well...maybe someone else would be interested in travel....so whatever...but I was asking mainly for shows and such.

I have a wheelie case that I filled with high density foam and cut out compartments for everything. That stays in the boot of my car and I pack my necessary gear into a Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Home bag for each phase of the wedding.

I like the wheelie..its similar to a cary on...
I thought of a couple carryones///this is not for equipment, that I am using for..but for signs, photo's, books, flyers etc.
Today was just a new lesson is things you need to get and do...

I have a wheelie case I've been lugging around, but I've found it's too much and once I'm shooting is largely empty. I'm now looking for a small bag that'll carry the 70-200, and 10-20 plus flash, batteries etc. I'll then keep the wheelie case in the car.
I hope if I find something suitable I'll always have it handy without feeling overloaded. I've even considered a belt system, but I'm not sure about mobility once you're 'fully loaded'.
I have a large Crumpler that's on it's way to Ebay - it fits all my gear and the laptop, consequently it's completely useless as it's too large. When out with my camera (non weddings) I like to use a rucksack type bag.

I use the Think Tank Photo bag called the Airport Security

It's awesome. It holds SO much stuff and is a wheelie bag with ball bearing wheels, and shoulder straps when going off-the-trail. And it's perfect size to qualify as carry-on baggage on airplanes. It holds my entire wedding gear in it. It's MADE for photographers. The zippers lock into built-in combo locks, and there is a hidden cable that you can pull out to chain it to a post or something to keep people from taking off with your gear when shooting.
I just love it. It's pricy, but worth it for mobile wedding pros like us, who typically go between 3-5 locations per shoot!

A big lowepro bag, which holds 2 20Ds, and all the flashes and lenses I own bar the 12-24 lens which I no longer use.

I think for these shows..I will just buy a carryon..well..one that you cannot "
carry on" anymore..but a big one...not for my camera and such, but for the table stuff...
I think I will also make a proof book for my best wedding shots and another one make into an album...
I will be busy again, keep me busy....

When I go to weddings in town I have two camera bags and one slightly bigger bag for my flash/lenses/etc., my AB comes in a bag, but I just carry my tripod, light stand and umbrella. Works fine for me.

Thought I'd dig this back up.
Just got a (lousy) picture of the gear tote. It's amazing that it can fit ALL this into one, reasonably sized bag...

LOL... didn't intend to show off. Just wanted to show a cool solution to carry EVERYTHING in one bag. Before this, I was carrying about 5-6 bags and the tripod and light stands separately. It was impossible without an assistant. Bag for laptop, bag for cameras, bag for lenses, bag for lighting, bag for misc , paperwork etc....
It's SO worth it to get a good bag to hold everything.

For a rugged carry all case you should try out the Pelicans. I have a Pelican 1610 that has rollers and the dividers. I can take four bodies...four 580ex's...five or six lenses...light meter...other items as well. It is a little on the heavy side, but with the rollers it is very easy to manage. I can pretty much take anything that I would need for a wedding day with some room to spare.
