Well, I haven't actually had a whole lot of time to take landscapes with my DSLR because of school, but I want to go up to the escarpment when it gets warmer. Right now I'm limited to a park 5 minutes from my house which can sometimes turn out nice sunsets. ;)

EDIT: And I completely forgot somehow, during the summer I'm downtown by the lake about once a week, so i always get nice photos there too, and at the right time of the year, the moon is spectacular over the water.

Ottawa here! {{ ducks for cover }}

anyone else from this neck of the woods?

being the nation's capital, we're lucky enough to have a seemingly endless supply of various festivals and such, which provide amazing photo opportunities (i.e. - the tulip festival, busker festival, jazz festival, blues festival, etc.). also tons of parks too! of course, there's also lots of architectural subjects (including parliament hill, rideau canal, etc.). the gatineau hills (provincial park on the quebec side of the river) are also spectacular in the fall.

Ooooo, probably a TO busy-ness issue.

I only go to the Oakville one. They let me play with anything I want, are knowledgeable, and don't assume you know nothing. And when my 70-200 was front focusing they just handed me a brand new one on the spot.

Even the owner would recommend a $1000 cheaper option if it was a better choice.

I think you will find that common in a lot of shops from my experience and I'm no way a teen. I've also found some shop owners downright arrogant and they may know there stuff they make the buyer feel dumb, they may not even realize they are doing that.

No, busy-ness still affects the quality of service during non-busy hours. Employees will be generally discouraged about their job, and more likely to want to do nothing during that downtime.

Still not acceptable though.

They went over my dads a few times and around.
I've seen that plane doing stuff like that before.

I work at the airport, I'm an AME apprentice for Journey Air. It was a Hercules C160, the pilots we're idiots that had no business flying a plane like that. And I too was kicking my ass for not having my camera. If you want pictures, it's scheduled to be at RMG Aero (Shell) until tomorrow morning.

I saw those planes...im just down the road from there....tried to get a photo, but wasnt quick enough either

I'd definitely be up for a Southern Ontario meet-up! Has anyone gone ahead with the facebook idea, or do we not have enough interest yet?

I also came across a forum that is primarily focussed on organizing photography meetups in Toronto / Southern Ontario (www.tpmg.ca). POTN is definitely still my fave community for discussing photography, gear, and putting up photos for critique, but these guys seem to have a lot more activity when it comes to face-to-face meets in the GTA. I haven't been to any of their events yet, but it also seems like it's worth a try...

woehlerking,

First name? I'm from the Essex area, are you new to the boards here? I caught the Red Bull air races, some photos can be found here (http://www.jmitchl.smugmug.com/gallery/5127531_zt4DL#309722275_9MBoK). Do you have any photos hosted anywhere? I posted another topic also here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=537615) about a seminar over in Detroit, looks interesting.

Thats a shame.
Techknoledgy has its many quirks.
Still a lot of shots Shasta.
It was my first real shoot and I got to admit.
Not Bad for an amateur.
Now I got to figure out how to use this Photo Shop cs2 program.

We live in the new development behind the elderly folks home at the corner by the CIBC bank. We moved here 2 years ago - great place to live and an even better place to raise a family.
