How does everyone carry their Tripods? I have two Camera bags and both don't offer a solution for carrying such a BEAST ( :p 3021BPRO).. I was looking at Manfrottos websitre and I seen these three options that looked like either might work.. anyone have comments about the straps/bags or another option..(PLEASE POST PICTURES) Thanks

I made my own sling from a piece of climbing rope, does exactly what I want, I had a shoulder pad anyway so it's nice and comfy.

I get allsorts of Good comments when using it as it is so versatile:cool:

My Tripod is the 055pro and 322 head:cool:

I use a op/tech tripod strap it is padded and has a bit of stretch that helps with the weight I also use a tent pole bag sometimes. I have a gitzo basalt tripod so weight is not really an issue for me.

I really like the look of the 401N QUICK ACTION STRAP . Reminds me of some type of futuristic arrow sling. And the DIY in me does not want to put down $50+ on that (B&H price) although very eye appealing, at least to me:)

I have the MBAG100P TRIPOD BAG PADDED, it's a little bulky but it's great for flying. I've just been down under and it had 8 flights in total without any problems, there is also room to put a few clothes in as well, just in case your main luggage gets lost. :)

I have the MBAG70 and it suits me fine. Fits nicely alongside my Slingshot 200 and is easy enough to use. If I'm moving around a lot then I keep the empty bag on my back and carry the tripod on my shoulder.

Most often when in the field, I use the Long Strap and sling the tripod across my back. For travel, I use a bag to carry the tripod.

I used to use a camera strap to an O- or D-ring attached to the top and to a Velcro closure around the legs. My Manfrotto came with a loop-type strap and my Slik with a carry bag. All work adequately.

For me, the 102 strap for transporting for ready access to my 3021 during walkabout work...just take if off the shoulder and extend the legs and spread them, and ready to shoot. The loop end of the 102 goes over one leg only; I use a hook-and-loop cinch strap to keep the three legs together, as this is much faster than using the shoulder strap loop to tie the three together.

But the entire tripod + strap I put into a padded tripod bag (I think Vivitar name on it) in the trunk of the car or for storage. It is somewhat like the MBAG70, except triangular in section, and I had purchased at a store clearance reduction.

When I had a tripod in the UK, it went into an over shoulder tripod bag. I kept getting stopped by the police who wanted to know why I was walking around with a rifle over my shoulder. My monopod had string tied to the ends and the string was what I used to carry it - again, slung over my shoulder. In the US I don't have a tripod carrying solution unless you call my SUV a tripod carrier :p

I did have an over-shoulder camera bag but the tripod straps on that, when a tripod was attached just made it completely unwieldy. I had tripod straps on a photographers' vest but again it made it awkward and unwieldy. String or rope seems the best idea.

I use a nylon bag that came with a folding deck chair. It is exactly the right size for the tripod, and has a strap. The chair + bag was under $10, and I got a free chair. >>>kinda like this<<< (http://www.epromos.com/product/8816889.html)

I just got an OP-tech strap and it seems pretty good. nice and comfy with all the padding on the strap, and lightweight

The Benro tripod I bought came with its own nice padded bag. The Manfrotto has an oversized bag that's a pain to carry.

Once I get the tripod out of the bag for the day, it just stays in my hand and the tripod bag gets packed somewhere. Its just too much work folding the tripod and packing it every few minutes!!

Real men don't use umbrellas.

Real men don't use/need tripods.

I'm not a real man, at least when the latter is concerned.

I recently got the quick release optech strap. I have the Gitzo CF mountaineer which is quite light, but with the B55 ballhead, it's not so light any longer. Only problem with the strap is that it gets in the way of the camera strap. I prefer it hanging from a loop on my slingbag. Don't even know it's there.

As to traveling, I put it in the middle of my luggage and wrap clothes around it. Never a problem.

It looks like a piece of military hardware 8)

My larger bag, a Lowepro Orion AW has some nifty straps underneath that hold the tripod nicely.
But, it makes a heavy package to hang around my waist so Iv taken to useing a simple Lowepro strap on it.
It came with my Lowepro Nova, but can be bought speratly. Has some nice padding, and a shaped shoulder pad so it won't slide off my big mannly shoulders......... :o

Otherwise Iv taken to just holding the tripod on one hand, not terriably practicle mind :)

I have a D shackle and a smaller clip arrangement (like on the end of a dog leash). The small clip goes on a lug on the tripod and the D shackle loops through the other end of the clip and the belt on my pants/shorts. I can release it quickly for deployment if necessary. I use the same method for my monopod. Both hands are kept free. The only downside is losing weight - if I don't keep the belt tight, it could get awkward... :)

I carry my lightweight pod in a little unpaded bag on my sholder using the integral carry strap. That way I have some extra bits like the rest of the centre column (which I don't normally use), a stone bag, a wembly plamp and a little waterproof ground sheet intended for gardening for low level work.

I have a bag that takes a pod on the back but I don't use it as it puts the centre of weight too far back and pulls on my bad back.

For my heavy pod I dont do any more than pick it up by one of the sections which is about 1/25" dia tube, but to be honest I don't use it the field any more - its just too much for me now. 30 years ago it was OK, not any more.

Below is a shot of the tripod bag but attached to the aformentioned camera backpack.

I took the strap off a old gym bag and put it on my Manfrotto's hooks. Works great!

I normally have mine on my backpack but when it's not I just use a shoulder strap that came with mine.
