I have been using a Canon 70-200L IS USM now for over 3 months. What is it that you wan to know about it? I use it for sports photography. (Basketball / Volleyball)

I bought one for work, and this post was before my purchase. Just wondering if it is worth the 1799 dollars?

What do you think how low can price for IS version drop?
Will non-IS version be discontinued in recent future?

I'm renting one in two weeks for a weekend of gymnastics shooting. We'll see how it does

I just got my lens three weeks ago. It is great. The pics are extremely sharp. The only downside is it is a little heavy. I also got the 28-70mm 2.8L lens, it is also great. Ken

Ouch. I paid almost twice that much for mine - - six or seven years ago. It really hurt paying that much at the time, but it was worth it. Didn't think twice about the price/value of the 70-200 IS I just bought. Once you go "L" you can never go back.

Probably next to my 85/1.2L, the sharpest lens with the best contrast that I own. To buy it is to love it!

Hi Gerry, I had the 70-200/4L version and loved it. I have now ordered the 2.8 version ONLY because of low-light photography that I do (early mornings). I will probably get the IS one next. The lens will impress you every time you use it. Go to luminous landscapes and read what the author has to say about this lens; he considers it to be one of the three sharpest lens that there is-----period. Email me if you like and I will tell you where to get a great deal on this lens (any version).

I've had one for about 4 or 5 months now. I use it with the D30 so be prepared to stand back from subject. Nice clear pictures.
