Well, I am looking for ideas. Not the pictures.

I have tried some of mine not sure how it has come.

Thank you.

Your question is very vague. "I'm looking for ideas for an unusual angle". Don't expect miraculous answers if you ask your question like that... What's the assignment? Just try different things, even crazy ones.

One thing I tried once with my ixus 300 (will be a bit more difficult with a SLR) : Attach a string to the ring which normally holds the strap, and lets it rotate around the string. Use the timer and flash to take the picture.
Do this when you're at table (restaurant) with a lot of people.
Gives some funny pictures...
For the SLR, twirl it around holding the strap

Now I hope that's an unsual angle for you...

Or you may try 'lomografie' (Check google for this...)

Please study the photos in the sharing section. Some excellent photos are shot at "unusal angles". By the way, do you notice that they are shot at "usual angles"? Do they have any reasons to do at such angles?

Sorry, I can't help. But certainly viewing others' works may do.

Are you looking for "unusual angles" as in 132.7564 degrees, or "unusual angles" as is shooting a tomato on a moonlit night with children and dogs dancing in unison?

Find a friend with a crawling baby, photograph the baby at his/her level, Get a wide angle, do a POV, do a beside/above/below the baby shoot. Have someone jump on a trampoline, shoot from below or from a ladder.

That was a bit obtuse! ;-)

I always liked the under-the-leg-through-the-window-across-the-street-nothing-but-net angle.

I hope this helps!!!

shoot down the road from under the car, lay down and shoot straight up at a tall building, shoot at a volleyball game from a ladder right by the net, just look around as you walk around town or out in the country. Something unusual will present itself if you're thinking about it. Don't forget to take your camera with you! :)

Well...Part of learning photography is learning what you like to shoot. Shoot everything. Have your camera with you whenever possible and shoot everything. You have not run out of ideas, you have idea-block. Get out of the house, and away from the computer and get out and shoot and shoot and shoot.

When at the computer search the various sites for photos and study them. Learn what you like. I don't nomrally promote other forums, but over at Fred Miranda they ahve weekly and monthly assignments. Join that crowd and challenge yourself with those assignments, even if you don't enter their contests.

The point of your class is to challenge yourself and not to have us challenge you.

That was really good and made me to think. But some times busy with work you run short of ideas. Hints and suggestions given by you guys really helping me.

I will keep you guys posted on my progress.

Thank you again.

I have always thought that 227 degrees is an unusual angle. And obtuse, too!

Take a walk and try to drink it all in - look at everything, and shoot. You may see something, maybe not. But then, walk the same route in the opposite direction. Take a look at everything again. Seeing the same thing from a different angle or perspective may spark something.

Hope this helps

You mean your angles are unusual with half a dozen beers? :?:
 So the unusuality of the angles does increase with every beer...

If you live near a popular tourist spot, take pictures of people taking pictures.

It is especially hard to make an original, interesting photo from something that has been photographed millions of times before, for example the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Here in Rotterdam, we have a place with some interesting cube houses. Here (http://www.millhouse.nl/0100306.html) is an example of a photographer who thinks he made an interesting photo, but the same photo has been made thousands of times already. I recently made a photo of a reflection of these houses in the water (unfortunately I don't have it online) - which is already a lot more original.... (even though I say so myself....)

Well, it certainly will look different, and perhaps inspirational, but of course you won't be able to capture that inspiration in an image - by the time you sober up you'll be saying 'That's not what I saw at the time'

In any case, give it a try - maybe you can get a new perspective of a shot of a glass of Heineken - or an image of a shot and a Heineken, or...

What do you mean by "unusual angle"

Is that relating to the tilt of the camera, or the angle of view?

I don't see the problem: If you need to change the angle of view, take a photo from high up or low down. If you need the camera at an unusual angle, tilt it. Quite simple.

Can you fly a kite ? If so, have a go at KAPing (Kite Assisted Photography). Do a Google for "KAP kite" to see of the great shots you can do with this.

(I haven't plucked up the courage to fly my 10D yet, but my old Sony CyberShot has had a few flights, but no decent results yet).

Cheers
