I've been after the 10-22 WA, and as per usual finding it hard to track one down, that hasnt been marked up by some 20% over the more reasonable suppliers. Warehouse Express etc all out of stock, so I tried expansys, who can be pretty good sometimes (great for CF cards).
They list it as "Discontinued".
Im not sure if its just them, or whether they know something? Any thoughs or rumours? I would really like one of these but thinking of holding off till spring to see what pops up after Photokina

Without knowing how you define "reasonable supplier", it is going to be difficult to respond to this. However, B&H has the lens available (Adorama does not). As I am sure you know, there are many "fly by night" shops out there who will eagerly take your money... but for a purchase of this magnitude, I would rely on a flagship store to ensure you are getting what you pay for (as opposed to a re-furb or an item that might have been mishandled).

B&H - $675 or so

You might want to check on Ebay... but if it were me, I would stick with someone I know I can trust.

I dont think I would dare from Ebay.....and ordering from overseas is ok but by the time VAT and customs are added it gets expensive.

This seems to be a very popular and necessary lens for crop sensor users dispite it's relatively high price, so I would seriously doubt it would be discountinued at this time. Many people say this lens has L quality optics.

That being said, if you follow the rumour pages...there was a 10-24 f/2.8L lens listed as a rumour on a Korean web site (translated and pasted below)...though I would think that would have to be an EF-S lens with that focal lenght. Perhaps (if it's true), it will be a EF/EF-S hybrid L lens that can be used on both EF-S and EF mounts so that 1.2 crop cameras can get a true ultra-wide zoom? Also, given that such a lens would be very expensive, I don't see it knocking the 10-22 out of the line-up.

Also worth mentioning is that on another thread here someone said something about Japan no longer allowing the production of flourite elements. While no one was able to substantiate this, and it seems to be just a third hand rumour in itself, I find it interesting that some of the rumoured L lenses on this list are stated to be black. Wasn't the reason for white L lenses due to the heat sensitivity of some of the (flourite?) elements...

None of this is based in fact....I'm throwing some wood on the fire...:D

I was going to purchase one this week but decided to opt for a graphics tablet instead. I know Kerso is getting some in stock this week. Look for that user in this forum and he'll quote you his price, which is very good (in my opinion).

As for the lens.. i've heard nothing but excellent reviews about it and i can't wait to get mine in a few weeks.

I bought mine used on eBay for $510 USD shipped. Came in original box w/papers and looked unused.

eBay is fine if you check the seller and buy right.

I was kind of disappointed the 10-22 was not f/2.8, but I doubt they will change it just for me.

I would suggest not using them as they have NO ratings on reseller ratings (http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Onestop_Digital). So you would pretty much be leapping without looking

10-22EFS is an excellent lens with L quality glass inside. It would be ashame to see it discontinued. I agree for a non-L, it is prolly one of the most expensive! Not worried about a faster f-stop. I use it mainly for home interiors mounted on a tripod. heh...

I've used Onestop Digital, and can honestly say they were good. My first lens got damaged in transit (i assume) and they swapped it withoput any hesitation, in fact, because i didn't want to wait any longer than necessary, they allowed me to buy another, then refunded me when they received my lens and could see it was faulty.

I have also used Kerso and he too is very reliable, as the majority of people on here can attest! ;)
