Nice capture, but I would see if you can lighten it up some, it seems awfully dark.

I agree, a little under exposed maybe, unless you want it to appear as twilight.

The histogram showed quite a bit of space on the right. Here's my take.

nice adjustment Clint. I did try that after posting, but didn't want to be too aggressive. It was late afternoon on a cloudy day but I like your fix.
ps- in wisconsin the blaze orange hat is a requirement- state law or something.:)

Nice capture Geoff, That hat is HOT so I had a little tinkle, hope you don't mind. I adjusted the levels created a layer of just the hat and turned down the saturation a little.

Don't you tinkle in the Lu? Nicejob in the hat. My wife is going to a PP class starting next week. I'm hoping she learns a lot so she can teach me a few things. (more than she already has)

Shooting in snow is tricky (so is shooting at the beach). You need to set EC to somewhere in the neighborhood of +2/3 to +1 2/3 stops to get the whites of the snow to be white. Else, the camera tries to make it 18% gray, which is about what you have here, and thus under-exposing the photograph.

Thanks for the tip- I'll try that sometime soon.

That hat's a staple in the upper Midwest. That's what they actually look like in low light. It's supposed to be obnoxious! :-)

I took a stab at it as well... now that I look at it, I'm not very happy with it. I tried balancing out the colors a bit more so that the hat didn't stand out so much, and cloned out that distracting red line in the foreground.

it's not bad either, but the day was kinda drab, and every "fix" makes it seem like noon with no clouds in the sky. I'll remember to adjust WB next time.
